Earlier this spring we advertised for a summer intern, a job that would give a lucky someone the chance to go around Europe for the summer to visit our camps and at the same time drive business development projects. Many qualified candidates were called, but only one could be chosen. We are happy to introduce Nick Larsson who will be working for us this summer.
So Nick, why was this a dream job for you?
Because I get to combine two of my greatest interests: entrepreneurship and surfing. My first impression of USC is that it’s an innovative and fast growing company that gives us team members a lot of freedom to take own initiatives and almost work as if you are running your own business. At the same time, you get frequent feedback and guidance from the more experienced people within the organization. In other words, the working conditions couldn’t suit me better: freedom to be creative, all along with strong support. And of course it’s a big bonus to travel around to some of the world’s best surf spots and get to catch a wave or two!
What are you looking forward to the most?
I’m looking forward to all of it, but if I have to choose it would be meeting up with the local surf managers and their guests. Every time I travel, it is usually the people I meet who is the greatest gain, especially when it comes to the surfing community.
So give a short description of what you will do.
The job basically consists of three parts:
The European Summer Tour. The 7th of July until the 7th of August I’m going to visit six camps in Spain, Portugal and France that we are promoting. During my stays, I will take photographs and shoot short films about each camp so that you can get a better view of how everything looks like on site. You will be able to follow the journey here on this blog.
I will also investigate the possibilities of growing our business into new segments related to surfing that we see that our customers are already asking for. Last but not least, I am going to work with improvements regarding our customer experience and the website. With some improvements to make it even more user-friendly when it comes to the information, navigation, payment options etc.
Thanks, it sounds like you will be busy.
That may very well be so…
